Spend Earth Day at ReuseFest
Join the world’s largest environmental event as more than a billion individuals living throughout the world take part in Earth Day activities on Saturday, April 22. Festivities in western Pennsylvania will include REUSE FEST, an opportunity to donate a wide variety of materials – from bikes and toys to furniture and building materials – for reuse by local nonprofits.
PRC’s sixth annual ReuseFest will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UPMC Passavant “green” parking lot off Babcock Boulevard in McCandless, North Hills. All materials donated during the drive-thru event will be reused in some fashion, whether resold, repurposed or given to those in need in our region and around the world.
Stop by ReuseFest between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to enjoy a special Earth Day celebration. Step out of the car to spend time under the tent at a pop-up shop featuring handmade jewelry, vintage items and housewares and clothing looking for a second life. Learn how you can make a difference by volunteering at a number of local nonprofits. Purchase a tasty lunch from Pgh Halal Truck or The Rolling Kitchen. And enter a drawing for an opportunity to win a rain barrel or compost bin to use in your own backyard.
This year’s ReuseFest collection will support Animal Rescue League, Brother’s Brother, Catholic Charities, Construction Junction, Free Ride, Global Links, Goodwill, Off the Floor, Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse and UPMC Medical Equipment Recycling Program.
All local non-profits will collect materials for FREE including art supplies, bedding & bath, bikes, general household items, kitchen items, medical supplies, pet supplies, usable building materials, vintage items and much more.
