2025 “Lens On Litter” Photo Contest Features New “Before & After” Prize Category

Posted on February 5, 2025 by Mary Beth Mueller

The Gene Capaldi Lens on Litter Photo Contest, which has honored student and adult amateur photographers since its launch in 1984, is an annual statewide contest that rewards photographers who snap unusual or eye-catching images of litter across the Commonwealth. The purpose is not to glorify litter but to bring awareness to how litter threatens public health and safety, scenic beauty, property values, the environment, pets and wildlife.

NEW CATEGORY IN 2025!  This year the contest introduces a new BEFORE & AFTER category sponsored by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.  Submissions in this category must involve a Pick Up Pennsylvania reported event.  To register a cleanup event, visit Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s Pick Up Pennsylvania site.  All 2025 Lens on Litter contest rules and requirements must be followed.

  • March 1 – May 31, Pick Up Pennsylvania‘s spring event in support of The Great American Cleanup is eligible for FREE work gloves, safety vests, and trash bags as supplies last. Donated landfill space for trash collected during the cleanup is also available for free or reduced cost April 1 – 30. Registered events will receive details concerning participating landfills.

PRC thanks Lens on Litter sponsors Carolyn Capaldi, Robert & Mary Capaldi, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, Sheetz and Wegmans.

LEARN MORE and enter the Lens on Litter Contest by October 31.
