On Monday, April 22, more than one billion people around the world will celebrate Earth Day, which annually encourages individuals, communities, organizations, and governments take action to protect the planet. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, each American produces approximately 4.4 pounds of waste every day. While much of this waste is recyclable in some way, typically only about 30 percent finds its way to the proper receptacle.
“Earth Day reminds us that we have opportunities to improve our world every day – wasting less, reusing, and recycling,” according to PRC Executive Director Darren Spielman. “PRC is proud to help Pennsylvanians become environmental stewards by teaching government, businesses, and residents to waste less each day.”
