Volunteer Opportunities with PRC

Thank you for your interest in helping PRC prevent waste and conserve resources for each generation! Volunteers like you make our work across the Commonwealth possible, and make it a whole lot more fun, too.

Please see below for our current volunteer opportunities. If you would like to sign up to volunteer, please complete the form below and indicate which program and date you would like to sign up for. A PRC staff member will confirm with you, and provide additional details closer to the event.

2022 Household Hazardous Waste Collections

At Household Chemical Collections, you can recycle most chemical products found in the home, garage, garden shed, and more. Volunteers may dispose of $20 worth of household hazardous waste for free. Volunteers will be asked to direct traffic, check in registrants, or check trunks.

April 16 – PPG Paints Arena surface parking lots, Allegheny County

April 30 – Bradys Run Park, Beaver County

May 7 – North Park, Allegheny County

May 21 – Concurrent Technologies Corp. ETF Facility, Johnstown, Cambria County

June 18 – Fayette County Recycling Convenience Center, Fayette County

June 25 – Wild Things Park, Washington County

August 20 – Boyce Park, Allegheny County

September 10 – South Park, Allegheny County

October 8 – Bradys Run Park, Beaver County

All volunteer opportunities are from 8 am – event end (1 pm) unless otherwise indicated. Full shifts are preferred, but any time you can help is much appreciated!

2022 Hard to Recycle Collections – dates to be announced!

At Hard to Recycle Collections, you can recycle electronics, cell phones, tires, and more. Volunteers may dispose of up to $60 worth of hard to recycle material for free. Volunteers will be asked to direct traffic, check trunks, write receipts, or check in registrants.
NOTE: Group volunteers are welcome at collection events! We are able to accommodate up to 20 volunteers per event. Looking for a group activity and fundraiser for your club or sports team? PRC can provide a donation to teams or clubs who are able to assist with unloading items from attendees vehicles at Hard-to-Recycle collections. Please reach out to [email protected] for details.

July 23 – Quaker Valley High School, Leetsdale, Allegheny County

July 30 – Next Tier Connect @ Pittsburgh East, Monroeville, Allegheny County

October 2 – Settlers Cabin Park, Allegheny County

2022 Rose Tree Park Summer Series – Media, PA

PRC and Rose Tree Park have partnered to make the Summer Series Zero Waste. Through a grant with Cand’aid Crush It Crusade, Rose Tree Park has expanded recycling collection throughout the amphitheater for its Summer Concert Series and we need your help! Get trained in recycling right, set up and monitor zero waste stations, educate guest on waste diversion, sort recycling and enjoy music while keeping Delco parks sustainable.

2022 ReuseFest – dates to be announced!

ReuseFest is a one-day drop off event open to the general public that diverts materials from local landfills to reuse by local nonprofits. Volunteers will aid in unloading material from vehicles and transporting them to the staging areas of the nonprofits on site. The event will be outdoors, rain or shine, so be prepared to wear sunscreen or a rain jacket!
