THREE TRAVELING GLASS RECYCLING BIN APPEARANCES SET FOR AUGUST

Posted by: Stacy Albin on July 23, 2020

PRC’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program – which serves residents living in municipalities no longer accepting glass in curbside recycling collection – provides a week-long service, free to residents, that rotates through a variety of locations in western Pennsylvania.

PRC Traveling Glass Recycling Bin engagements in August 2020:

August 1 – 6 @ KILBUCK TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING

Upper parking lot, 343 Eicher Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237

Presented by Quaker Valley Council of Governments and sponsored by Sustainable Sewickley

August 8 – 13 @ QUAKER VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

625 Beaver Street, Leetsdale, PA 15056

Presented by Quaker Valley Council of Governments and sponsored by Sustainable Sewickley

August 15 – 20 @ MT. LEBANON PARK

Commissioner’s Lot, 900 Cedar Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15228

Presented by the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon

Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars, and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required).  Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on.  Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site. For more information on materials and our regularly updated schedule, please visit the PRC Glass Program webpage.

“This pilot program expands PRC’s current glass recycling collection opportunities by providing residents with a safe method for recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals or touch shared surfaces,” according to PRC Environmental Program Coordinator Ashley DiGregorio.  “Self-serve glass drop off is available during daylight hours on a weekly basis from Saturday through Thursday, and bin sites are strictly monitored at all times.”

PRC’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program is sponsored by Owens-Illinois, Inc. and CAP Glass.
