Since 1984, PRC has sponsored an annual Gene Capaldi Lens on Litter Photo contest, not to glorify litter but to bring attention to the litter problem in communities across Pennsylvania. Exposure leads to prevention!
Participants from across the state have submitted thousands of photos over the years. Contestants are eligible for monetary prizes up to $500. All submitted photos may be used by PRC and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful at their discretion.
Contest dates run from January 1 to October 31 each year.
NEW IN 2025! This year a new BEFORE & AFTER category — sponsored by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful — has been added to the contest. To qualify for this category, clean up efforts must be registered with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s Pick Up PA program.
Prizes
Contestants are divided into four categories:
- Adults
- Students (through Grade 12)
- Adults BEFORE & AFTER
- Students (through Grade 12) BEFORE & AFTER
Each category will be awarded the following prizes:
- First prize: $500
- Second prize: $250
- Third prize: $100
- Adult BEFORE & AFTER*: $500
- Student BEFORE & AFTER*: $500
NOTE: Non-winning BEFORE photos will be included in the judging for first, second and third place in the standard Adults and Students categories.
