In 2017, PRC partnered with the Lower Merion Conservancy, Eastern Delaware County Stormwater Collaborative, and Darby Creek Valley Association to launch the Stream Smart Stormwater House Calls Program.
This program creates opportunities for local residents and property owners to improve stormwater management and reduce runoff from their property. This is important since stormwater runoff picks up pollutants such as fertilizer, oil, road salt, pet waste, and sediment and carries it to our local waterways. After successfully piloting the program, the Stream Smart program was expanded to include additional watershed organizations around the Philadelphia area.
Property owners in the Stream Smart service area can schedule a free assessment with us during which representatives from PRC and our partner organizations visit the property to educate about stormwater pollution and identify changes that can be made to reduce stormwater runoff leaving the property. The property owners receive a written report with specific recommendations for their property in addition to guidance for simple GSI installations.
