2022 GLASS RECYCLING IN ALLEGHENY COUNTY PARKS

Posted on March 22, 2022 by Pennsylvania Resources Council

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald has announced that the county has partnered with
the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) for a second year to offer its Traveling Glass Recycling Bin
Program in county parks.

“Glass recycling continues to be an interest of residents in the county and with fewer curbside options
available, we’re delighted to provide this service at our county parks,” said Fitzgerald. “We know that
glass bottles and jars are 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without losing any quality,
making the effort to put these items back into the recycling ecosystem even more important. Thank you
to PRC and our county Parks Department for making this a priority for our communities.”

Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors from 7 a.m. to sunset. No color sorting is required. Containers
should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on. Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be
discarded off-site.

2022 SCHEDULE OF ALLEGHENY PARK RECYCLING BIN ENGAGEMENTS

April 2 – 7 @ HARRISON HILLS PARK, Chipmunk Drive lot near park office, Freeport Road

May 14 – 19 @ SETTLERS CABIN PARK, Wave Pool parking lot

June 18 – 23 @ BOYCE PARK, Ski Lodge parking lot

July 16 – 21 @ ROUND HILL PARK, main parking lot near duck pond

August 13 – 18 @ SOUTH PARK, VIP Lot, Corrigan Drive and 100 Acres Drive

August 27 – September 1 @ DEER LAKES PARK, Veterans 2 lot, Mahaffey Road near round-a-bout

September 17 – 22 @ HARTWOOD ACRES PARK, Amphitheater overflow lot, Middle Road

October 22 – 27 @ NORTH PARK, Swimming Pool parking lot

November 12 – 17 @ WHITE OAK PARK, Chestnut Shelter and Playground lot, McClintock Road

PRC’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program is sponsored by Owens-Illinois, Inc. and CAP Glass and
is made possible through a partnership with Michael Brothers Hauling & Recycling. The collection sites
at the county parks are made possible through a partnership with the county’s Parks Department and
its Sustainability Office.
