PRC’s schedule of online workshops in August will include a free Recycling & Waste Reduction webinar on August 18 for individuals living throughout the Commonwealth.
Did you know you can compost leaves, pinecones and straw? Vegetable and fruit scraps, coffee grounds and eggshells? Learn how to turn yard and kitchen scraps into a natural, homemade compost for your lawns and gardens by taking part in a Backyard Composting webinar. Individuals living in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and surrounding areas can learn online August 4 or 17 and then pick up their compost bins at PRC’s eastern and western offices.
Did you know you can easily connect a rain barrel to your downspout and collect/store water from your roof to supply non-chlorinated water for your garden? Learn about additional ways to manage stormwater runoff by taking part in a Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel webinar. Individuals living in the greater Pittsburgh area can learn online August 10 or 26 and pick up a barrel at PRC’s western office in Allegheny County.
“Since launching online learning in 2020, PRC has received a tremendous amount of feedback concerning how the webinar format is an extremely convenient way to learn from the comfort of home,” according to PRC Education Program Coordinator Nancy Martin.
Compost bin pick up takes place at PRC’s eastern office in Rose Tree Park in Media, Pa, and PRC’s western office in Pittsburgh. Rain barrel pick up takes place at the western office in Pittsburgh.
