PRC — in collaboration with Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania — will host an electronics recycling collection event in June to provide residents of Butler and Armstrong Counties with a convenient and cost-effective method of responsibly disposing of televisions, computers and other electronic equipment.
The e-waste collection will take place on Saturday, June 19, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Freeport Middle School in Sarver.
Participants will pay a fee to dispose of some materials while other items will be accepted for free.
- For a fee, individuals can drop off televisions, computer monitors and printers.
- At no cost, individuals can drop off cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.) and video game consoles/DVD players.
Participants must register in advance at prc.org/ButlerArmstrongCollections or by calling 412-488-7490×3.
“In addition to the advance registration process, PRC is integrating on-site procedures to reduce the number of interactions occurring between event participants and staff to promote safety,” according to PRC Interim Managing Director Sarah Alessio Shea. “To streamline the process at our events, we’re asking participants to wear face coverings and stay in their vehicles while the contractor unloads the materials. When preparing to attend one of these collections, participants should place all materials in their car trunks or truck beds.”
PRC’s June 19 e-waste collection is presented by Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania and sponsored by National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Colcom Foundation, Pennsylvania American Water, LANXESS, 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA, and PA Department of Environmental Protection in partnership with eLoop llc and Freeport Area School District.
