Clean out the garage…the basement…the overflowing closets throughout the house because a large-scale collection of materials to be REUSED by local nonprofits will take place in Erie this September.
PRC’s ReuseFest – a one-of-a-kind drop-off event for gently used materials destined for reuse by numerous local nonprofit organizations – will accept a wide variety of materials including bedding/bath, clothing, furniture, kitchen items, medical supplies, office supplies, pet supplies, tools, usable building materials and more.
Erie ReuseFest will take place on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the parking lot of UPMC Health Plan, 380 E. Bayfront Pkwy.
“This one-of-a-kind collection event provides residents with an opportunity to responsibly donate a variety of unwanted but still usable items to multiple local nonprofits at one convenient location,” according to PRC Managing Director Justin Stockdale. “All materials donated at ReuseFest will be reused in some fashion, whether resold, repurposed or given to those in need in our region.”
Nonprofits collecting materials at the September 12 event will include Chosen International Medical Assistance, Dress for Success Erie, Embracing Our Veterans, Erie City Mission, Goodwill, Greater Erie Area Habitat for Humanity, Green Scene Thrift, Mercy Center for Women, Repair Café, The ANNA Shelter and Tool Lending Library.
At this 2020 collection, PRC will modify logistics to promote safety during the current COVID-19 pandemic. All participants must:
- place all items in car trunk/truck bed
- wear a face mask and stay in vehicle at all times
- confirm details at prc.org before attending event.
ReuseFest is sponsored by UPMC, UPMC Hamot and The Erie Community Foundation in collaboration with Erie County Recycling Program and City of Erie.
