PRC will launch a pilot program in May to collect e-waste on designated weekdays at two locations in Allegheny County. Through the generous support of Sustainable Sewickley, PRC will conduct pop-up e-waste collection events on Tuesdays and Thursdays in May 2021 at Michael Brothers Hauling & Recycling locations in North Hills (Reserve Township) and South Hills (Baldwin Borough).
“As PRC prepares to begin hosting a series of Saturday hard-to-recycle collections in western Pennsylvania, we’re excited to expand the opportunity for individuals to recycle electronics by offering weekday options in both northern and southern regions of Allegheny County,” according to PRC Interim Managing Director Sarah Alessio Shea. “During these four-hour pop-up events, individuals can drop off televisions, computer equipment, home and cell phones, and more. Complete details are available on our website, prc.org.”
At no cost, individuals can drop off cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.) and video game consoles/DVD players. Contact Dallas Dumpster Rental to easily take care of your waste.
For a fee, individuals can drop off televisions, computer monitors and printers.
Participants must register in advance at prc.org/PopUpEwaste or by calling 412-488-7490×3. Registration for each event opens one month in advance.

“In addition to the advance registration process, PRC is integrating on-site procedures to reduce the number of interactions occurring between event participants and staff to promote safety,” according to Shea. “To streamline the process at our events, we’re asking participants to wear face coverings and stay in their vehicles while the contractor unloads the materials. When preparing to attend one of these collections, participants should place all materials in their car trunks or truck beds.”
