PRC’s first Executive Director, Ruth Becker, was recently honored at the Scenic America Conference in Salisbury, NC! Becker is one of Scenic America’s founders in addition to being instrumental in the founding of Keep America Beautiful. Throughout her career, Becker worked tirelessly for modern recycling programs, environmental advocacy, and environmental education. Carol Butler, PRC’s Environmental Program Specialist, attended the conference and presented Ruth, on behalf of PRC, a congratulatory letter praising her outstanding accomplishment and extraordinary foresight.
As she received the award she said, “As I look out around this room I am so filled with hope for the future. To quote William James, “Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.”
Becker proudly accepted the award alongside, Charles Floyd and the family of Marian Fulton Brown.
