PRC shares advice on how to celebrate a ZERO WASTE HALLOWEEN by properly disposing of pumpkins!
WHOLE UNDECORATED PUMPKINS — Roast and enjoy as a snack, make pumpkin puree or soup, and incorporate into muffins or other treats.
CARVED PUMPKINS — Smash them up and add to your compost bin or leave in the woods for wildlife to enjoy. Be sure to dispose of seeds first if composting.
PUMPKIN GUTS — Keep out of compost (unless you want baby pumpkins to grow). Many recipes turn pumpkin guts into fall treats.
PAINTED/DECORATED PUMPKINS — Cut off painted/decorated parts and dispose in trach. You can then dispose of the remainder of the pumpkin as described above.
