PRC is an E-Stewards Enterprise

PRC’s Role as an E-Stewards Enterprise

PRC commits to the safe, ethical, and responsible recycling of electronic waste through recognition by the Basel Action Network (BAN), as an E-Stewards Enterprise. The designation recognizes cities, companies, and nonprofits taking concrete measures to eliminate the export of hazardous electronic waste (e-waste) and to provide the highest levels of data security and environmental, including occupational safety and health by utilizing only e-Stewards Certified Recyclers for all electronic wastes under their control.  As a result, e-waste is not shipping to developing countries and private residual data is destroyed and workers and communities are protected.

Throughout the past 19 years, PRC’s “Hard-to-Recycle” Collection Events are enabling 23,000+ residents to properly dispose of certain items, because we collected nearly 2,000,000 pounds of electronics, 8,800 tires, 2,400 Freon-containing appliances along with cell phones, polystyrene, compact fluorescent bulbs, alkaline batteries, and other materials not accepted for curbside refuse collection.

In 2018, we became one of the first nonprofits to become an E-stewards Enterprise, but our organization has been working with a certified E-Stewards processor, eLoop, for over a decade.

About e-Stewards® Certification

The E-Stewards®  progam provides  market-based  solutions that identify and promote sustainable recycling businesses. Certified e-Stewards Recyclers are held to the highest standard – the e-Stewards Standard.  They are audited annually and subjected to unannounced inspections. e-Stewards Enterprises include major corporations, municipalities, or institutions and non-profits that agree to utilize e-Stewards Processors for the e-wastes under their control.
