Individuals living in western Pennsylvania are invited to take part in PRC’s upcoming “Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel” webinar on Tuesday, July 21, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The online workshop will explore how to harvest rainwater from a roof, store it in a barrel and use it in the landscape. Participants will learn about problems associated with stormwater runoff and techniques to reduce individual contribution to watershed pollution.
Cost of the Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel webinar is $80 and includes a FreeGarden RAIN 55-gallon easy-to-install rain barrel. Pre-registration is required.
“At this time we’re conducting the Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel webinar specifically for individuals living in southwestern Pennsylvania since they’ll need to drive to a location in Pittsburgh to pick up their rain barrels soon after completing the webinar,” according to PRC Education Specialist Nancy Martin.
“The condition of Pennsylvania’s many watersheds — an area of land that drains into the same body of water — significantly affects the quality of life for people, other animals and the entire ecosystem,” said Martin. “Healthy watersheds provide many ecosystem services including erosion/sedimentation control, increased biodiversity and flood control.”
